Welders (TIG and MIG) specialize in welding operations whereby they perform TIG and MIG welding.

What you will learn

In this course you will learn about safety precautions applicable to welding machines, different tools and equipment used during welding operations, common types of materials and their uses, marking, as well as about cutting tools and instruments: their uses and safety procedures. You will also learn about welding symbols, reading and interpreting drawings, work on bevel preparation and tacking, have knowledge of MIG welding, Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW (TIG)), as well as welding joints: their positions, use and selection. You will also learn how to inspect and test welded joints to ensure weld quality and understand welding defects and their recognition as well as rectification process.

Training Outcome

After completing this course, you will be able to observe safety precautions with tools and equipment, grind on a work piece using pencil grinders, and use cutting machine/discs. You will also be able to measure, cut and place / stack MS Pipe to the given size, make bevel of the pipe to make it ready for welding, tack two welding pieces to form a joint, and carry out MIG welding, GTAW (TIG) – MS, as well as Aluminum welding of common welding joints in all positions. The course will have taught you how to inspect and test welding joints, distinguish different metals and electrodes, understand electricity and control of welding machines and prepare your job according to WPS.
