Overview

This course will train the learners in the critical stages of citrus production and processing, cold treatment and adherence to safety standards.

What you will learn

In this course you will learn about good agricultural practices (gap), biological control, health hazards, safety measures, annual orchard management schedule, climatic conditions, sorting of fruits, use of fungicide/Dettol etc. for sterilizing, maintenance of tools, packing material and fruit handling.

Training Outcome

After completing this course, you will be able to manage the product on the farm for temporary storage and in-house packaging for processing. You will also learn how to  arrange and feed the fruit  in the processing line, wash for decontamination of pathogens, sort for grade and quality assurance, and wax for retarding the respiration, ethylene production and dehydration. The course will also teach you how to grade fruit (ensuring quality and market demand), examine the material for market based packing of the product, use cold treatment for retarding mold germination and multiplication of fruit fly maggots and also learn about fruit loading for export shipment. Moreover, you will learn how to monitor different critical stages of citrus processing enlisted in food safety standards and become proficient in record keeping/stock keeping of citrus products, checklist formation, data maintenance,  and responding to auditing and food safety inspections.
