Overview

Milling machine operators specialise in milling machine operations, learning to use measuring tools, machine tools, and drill machines

What you will learn

In this course, you will learn about basic mathematics and how to take readings with the help of measuring tools and instruments. You will also be able to define, identify and measure by using tri square, inside/outside calliper, letter and number drills, cutters, dividers, bench vice, thickness gauge, hammer, steel rule, scriber, centre punch, screw pitch gauge, vee block, micrometre, Vernier calliper, bevel protractor and height gauge etc. and understand bench work safety precautions. In addition, you will also learn how to identify the types of milling machines, parts of milling machine and their functions, types of milling cutlers and their use, dividing head and its parts, and know how to establish a daily schedule for maintenance. Finally, you will also learn about drill machines and their parts and functions, and about fractional size drills.

Training Outcome

After completing this course, you will be able to use measuring/hand tool tools accurately and effectively, make bench jobs i.e. filling, marking, sawing, drilling, counter sinking, reaming and taping etc. and use drilling machines to make circular holes on taping block, use a milling machine to perform plain milling, step milling, square milling, angular milling and making slots.
