Commercial Tailoring + Hand Embroidery

Overview

This course will train the learners in drafting and pattern cutting as well as creating immaculate embroided patterns on various types of fabrics.

What you will learn

Commercial tailoring course is designed for career-oriented students, and the emphasis is on advance sewing techniques. In this course you are introduced to the sewing machine and its basic functions, sewing patterns, selecting fabrics, pressing of sewn garments, standard types of sewing machines and seam styles. How to add buttons and zippers, sizing, measuring, fabric care and alterations. You will also learn about specialized garments such as fitness apparel, formal gowns or baby clothing. Sewing short-cuts, draping, use of fabric embellishments and custom-designed garments are also covered. This class will provide you with the opportunity to work on a variety of garments, starting with selection of a pattern and materials and continuing through to the final sewing of a finished piece in light to medium weight knitted and woven fabric.

Training Outcome

After completion of the course you will have good knowledge of how sewing machines work, be able to take measurement of materials for production accuracy, conduct quality control analysis and management skills, understand types of basic fabric and input material, multitask (Cutting, Stitching, Finishing, Packing), fix accessories such as buttons, zippers, etc. on finished products. You will also be able to inspect equipment, structures and production materials to identify the reason for errors in production and other defects that may arise as well as develop knowledge on appropriate designs, seasonal color combinations and size of motifs for formal, semi-formal and casual apparel or home décor products.
