The commercial tailoring course is designed for career-oriented students, and the emphasis is on advanced sewing techniques.
This course will provide students with the opportunity to work on a variety of garments, starting with the selection of a pattern and materials and continuing through to the final sewing of a finished piece in light to medium-weight knitted and woven fabric.
In this course, students are introduced to the sewing machine and its basic functions, sewing patterns, selecting fabrics, pressing sewn
garments, standard types of sewing machines and seam styles, how to add buttons and zippers, sizing, measuring fabric care, and
alterations. Students also learn about specialized garments such as fitness apparel, formal gowns, or baby clothing. Sewing shortcuts,
draping, use of fabric embellishments, and custom-designed garments are also covered.

After completion of the course, trainees should be able to have good knowledge of how sewing machines work, how to take measurements of materials for production accuracy, good knowledge of quality control analysis and management skills, understand types of basic fabric and input material, have the ability to multitask (Cutting, Stitching, Finishing, Packing), fix accessories such as buttons, zippers, etc. on finished products
Inspect equipment, structures, and production materials to identify the reason for errors in production, and other defects that may arise, develop knowledge on appropriate designs, seasonal color combinations, and size of motifs for formal, semi-formal, and casual apparel or home décor products Carefully handle products (pre, during and post-production), presentation and packaging of the products and complete Knowledge on Adda work
