Six Model Villages
Punjab Skills Development Fund (PSDF) commissioned its pilot project in Six Model Villages of district Muzaffargarh. The project was a part of Punjab Government’s efforts for rehabilitation of flood victims in 2011. Selected model villages were Basti Meeran Mullah, Basti Khara Niazi Wala, Rakh Jalwala, Bhulla Mouza Aalo Rid Gujrat, Khara Nawa and Rakhehsanpur. A total of 651 trainees were imparted trainings in the trades of professional cook, receptionist, masonry, plumbing, tailoring/embroidery, welding, electrician, auto-mechanic and mobile repairing. Trainees were also provided with the guidance to find employment opportunities or to open-up their own small businesses. PSDF engaged three Training Service Providers for the provision of the trainings and provided all the funds for the initiative. The training directly promoted income generation opportunities for those who were devastated by the floods in 2010. It also enabled the candidates to become permanent breadwinners for their families.
