Associate Database Administrator – IT

PSDF’s purpose is to shape the future and well-being of our poor and vulnerable youth by giving them access to skills training of the highest standard so they can find sustainable employment and income-generating opportunities in Pakistan and beyond.

The impact we have created-PSDF started its operations in the 4 poorest districts of Punjab. Since 2016, the geographical remit has expanded to the entire 36 districts of Punjab. PSDF has trained almost 300,000 underprivileged youth across Punjab, which includes 180,000+ male and 110,000+ female graduates. These graduates have been trained in approximately 250 demand-driven and market relevant trades across 10 sectors.

The primary job responsibilities for this role will be

To perform the following duties falling under the mentioned functions daily or as required basis and is held responsible for all of them including their consequences.

Database Administrator

• Implementation, Management and Maintenance of SQL databases
• Performance Monitoring and Tuning of Databases
• Routine Maintenance including Log Management and Monitoring
• Developing recovery procedures for each database
• Managing Database Users and Security
• Supporting Development Teams with RDBMS related Issues
• Monitoring performance and managing parameters to provide fast responses to end users
• Maintain documentation and procedures to ensure adherence to database / data storage / data backup policies, procedures and regulations
• Controlling access permissions and privileges
• Understanding of ETL process
• Provide required database management, operations, and support and upgradation capabilities for the Teams
• Incorporate changes in database structure by following proper change control mechanism.
• Installing and testing new versions and upgrades of the DBMS
• Selection and Implementation of the appropriate Business Intelligence Solution for the organization which can be integrated with all “off the shelf” and “customized IT Systems” used in the organization.
• Arrange configuration of proper dashboards and reporting for the management.
• Reports development, SQL Query Optimization

Backup Operations

• Management, Monitoring and Maintenance of Backup and Storages Devices
• Establishing standards and schedules for database backups
• Ensuring that the backup schedules meet the recovery requirements
• Keeping proper record of all database backups
• Ensure the availability of database backups both onsite and offsite
• Managing and testing back-up and recovery plans

To perform effectively, the functional requirements are:

• Experience in managing mission critical enterprise class database systems
• Experience of MS SQL Server and T-SQL query tuning
• Understanding of database development concepts
• Experience in Tableau report development and Tableau server management
• Experience/Knowledge of System Center Data Protection Manager
• Experience/Knowledge of LTO 7 or above external tape drive
• Experience of job creation in DBMS and OS
• Knowledge about Storage systems

The Key Performance Indicators for this position are:

• Completing Database Backups as per Schedule
• Test restorations of backups as per Policy
• Database Tuning
• DB Sync activity as per schedule
• Reporting development

To apply, you must have

• BS in Computer Science (16 years) or any degree in computer science / software engineering
• At least 2+ years of experience as a DBA
• Experience of MS SQL Server or Oracle Database

Good To Have Skills

• Certified in MS SQL Server or Oracle is preferred
• Experience in Tableau report development is preferred
• Knowledge of Data warehousing is preferred
